boethius ( 04/30/2005, 18:46:20 )Dear Poster, I must disagree that "we are our brains." Our brains are a physical means of receiving thought from our senses. Just as a violinist can play the violin, his knowledge of playing does not reside within the violin, if a man loses an arm he still retains the knowledge of how to move that arm even though the arm itself has been removed. Our knowledge and process of thinking does not reside withing the brain, but within the soul which utilizes the brain as a physical means of recieving new knowledge. Are you saying that personality, IQ, and unique personhood comes from the type of brain you have?
