Human cloning wouldnt be bad if done right and is legalalternate ( 11/23/2004, 23:32:47 )I see a lot of posts suggesting cloning would be evil and unnatural and of the devil and various other arguments.Well i decided to stick in my two pennies worth:First off id like to address the "unnatural" issue, basicaly most people's argument centers around the basis that the clone is not the result of normal reproduction. While this is true, there is in fact over 100,000 people walking the planet who are not of "normal" reproduction, those are IVF,we certainly dont assume they are of the devil or evil, they are in every respect humans born in an "unnatural" way.Ok now many probably say "if god had intended cloning, god will have not given you reproductive organs" or another argument may be "wed all be clones already"Well you know cars are unnatural! yes i mean you have legs dont you? well cars are unnatural in this respect. Also its a bit like saying "if god had intended you to eat cooked food you will have been born wive a microwave in your throat"Everything we do today is essentially "unnatural".Now most people fear is based on the ill concieved belief that a clone will be identical to you.THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!I'm 24 yrs old now, lets say i had a girlfriend/wife that agree's to give birth to a clone of me,by the time the clone of me is 24 ill be 48 yrs old,now by that time we wouldnt look alike,id look like his dad SURE which i would be of coarse. Now my clone will not be the same as me at all,my clone will go to different schools, meet different people, possibly live in a different area and in all likelyhood would not want to be like his parents,it would for all intent and purpose be an individual.Even animals that have been cloned have shown to have differences,a bit like twins. And here leads me to a main point TWINS,twins grow up at the same rate, can look almost identical, some 99.9999% identical, and they grow up in the SAME envoroment, are the SAME age and yet theres still differences, but they are very close mentally.Yet we treat them with the respect they deserve,if not MORE,people consider twins special, the good kind of special.Yet people think cloning is evil.I can assume that its possible some believe a clone does not have a soul, but then we have to ask WHY NOT! surely if god exists then he is in all things, that includes you,me,animals, mentally handicapped,IVF babies, twins and indeed clones. Its interesting to see the same people who would want clones destroyed on the belief they dont have a soul also believe abortion is wrong on the assumption the baby has one (a soul that is) both are drastic beliefs without any evidence and kind of contradict one another, its a paradox because to assume the baby has a soul is the same as assuming clones also possess a soul,if the clones dont have a soul then why would the baby and so on.My personal fear of cloning is OTHER peoples fear and the fact that if its illegal, someone somewhere in a lab is gonna achieve it,if its pushed underground and it occurs in less than perfect conditions i fear "experiments".I also fear that should they succeed,an innocent child/clone will be born and will grow up in a world that hates him/her through self deluded fear of that of which is different,i fear for the childs safety and the conditions in which it was brought into this world. It would indeed IMO be very very wrong to clone while its illegal, but thats only because of other people and how fear has placed cloning in such a dim light that all that remains is ignorence, which should a clone be born may lead to murder or multiple murder by those that fear it.I may also add that if i had defects,if i was born with genetic defects but wanted to father a child id fear id pass these (possibly) painful ailments onto my child,if the alternate was a clone or "genetically modified" version of me or my partner id happily take that, rather than run the risk of making yet another child get what i have.Luckily im a healthy young man and would not have to resort to those "alternate" but justifiable measures, but i think they should be available to others,if as i say done right, but again id probably fear the child would be the subject of "racism" of a type, like second class or something. ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
