Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Same Place, Same Time

libfemme ( 12/28/2004, 15:05:24 )

You mentioned bosons. Who says they occupy the EXACT same space?ok I found somebody who would say that online, Patricia Schwarz a Cal Tech physicist:Bosons are particles that transmit forces. Many bosons can occupy the same state at the same time. This is not true for fermions, only one fermion can occupy a given state at a given time, and this is why fermions are the particles that make up matter. This is why solids can't pass through one another, why we can't walk through walls -- because of Pauli repulsion -- the inability of fermions (matter) to share the same space the way bosons (forces) can.I don't know if bosons are real. I don't know enough quantum mechanics to have an opinion. But my argument, limited as it was, was that a theist could contest your statement that all things occupy space. Now if I were discussing God,however, I would first ask the person who claimed God was real what they meant by that term. What is their definition of God? How do they know his presense?Because without pinning that down first they can change their definition mid-argument to define God as anything. They could define god as everything that exists. Ok, suppose that were true. That's the definition I give to the word universe. So substitute god for the universe, ok. But I don't worship the universe now. Why should I worship the universe? You see there is a bigger hurtle in going from "god exists" to "we should follow these set moral guidelines because god told us so" then just from "god exists" to "no he doesn't".Even supposing there were a first cause God, that would still not prove that God inferences in the daily lives of man today. Or that even if he did we should worship him. Maybe we should stage a revolt? Who knows.God has to be defined by the person making the claim. And the best you can do is debunk his claim. You can claim that theists do not have convincing evidence that god, as they define it, exists. But you can't say you've proved the non-existence of God, what out defining what in the world that word means.
