Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

    By the time I finished this book, I was amazed that Krakauer pulled it off.  Thinking about it beforehand, I wondered how good could a book be about a man who goes off into the wilderness and dies.  Yet, the book is grippping.  It's also very unique.  There's a mystical and philosophical quality about the writing that--even though at times I thought I was going to quit--caused me to keep reading to the end.  And I'm glad that I did.
