erin ( 09/10/2003, 01:41:00 )I have been thinking about what you wrote about your perception about God wanting to keep knowldge from us in the garden and I think you have an interesting veiw but I dont think it is complete. Knowledge in general was not kept from us, it was the knowledge of good and evil. The serpant tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit Eve said ,God says if we eat the fruit we will die. The serpant lied and told Eve "ye shall not die you will be as God knowing good from evil so eve ate the fruit and we lost our innocence and now know evil from good.The lie the serpant told was we would not die and most religions teach that lie. Do you know that the term immortal soul is not in the bible? That is a catholic teaching which has no biblical basis. Someone thought up the whole idea of purgetory to extort money out of ignorant people. God only has immortality and it doesnt matter whatwe do we cant make ourselves immortal thru cloning or any manmade way. We can prolong it but death takes us all evenually. I choose to have faith and beleave Christ will return and reserect the dead and then we will go to heaven. But not everyone has to share my beleif I think it is more comfoting than the idea of total oblivion.
