Can Cloning Cure Pedophilia?

libfemme ( 09/24/2003, 14:29:35 )

I know it's controversial but that's what I like about this topic. A fair amount of coverage has been given to the desire of some homosexuals to use cloning to have children. (Homosexuals have long had children by heterosexuals. It is the essense of being "in the closet". Pedophiles, also often have children with normal, and often unsuspecting, heterosexual partners.)However, not much has been said about theraputic cloning's potential affect on sexual orientation. Medicine and sexual orientation is strongly controversial in general. However, therapuetic cloning can grow new brain cells. Today US scientists announced success in growing new brain cells in mice and curing symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.Sexual desire, also, clearly resides in the brain. Therefore unwanted sexual desire can be seen as a brain disease and hence be curable through growing new brain cells.Strong evidence suggests that the object of one's sexual desire, that is one's sexual orientation is a function of the number of receptors and the size of a small cluster of brain cells in the hypothalamus. Change those cells and/or those receptor molecules and, theoretically, one changes the nature of sexual orientation. One of histories most horrible crimes and family dysfunctions could be curable in the future if cloning became available.
