Cloning Mammothslibfemme ( 09/27/2003, 08:53:21 )I don't see the point in cloning it just to amuse zoo goers either. However I do see a point in cloning an extinct animal for scientific research. It would help evolutionists see how behavior traits have been passed down from ancestor species to modern, for instance, something you can't tell by examining the carcass alone. It also may give some idea of the vulnerabilities of the species to different pathogens and an idea as to why the mammoth became extinct, what environmental changes took place tens of thousands of years ago.IF you could find a mammoth with intact DNA. So far all the DNA in long extinct animals like the Mammoth have only fragmented DNA today. Permafrost kills cells and destorys parts of DNA. Cloning is not possible with current levels of technology and may never be. There simply may not be enough intact DNA to make a clone. ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
