Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Is Cloning Legal?

libfemme ( 10/10/2003, 05:22:36 )

There are 191 nations in the UN. Only 30 nations have passed laws banning reproductive cloning. That leaves a minimum of 161 nations in which a cloned embryo could conceivable (no pun intended) be implanted in a woman's womb without legal prohibition.Anybody got a list of the 30 nations that have made cloning illegal? In Britain, scientists can get licenses to create human embryos by cloning for the purpose of extracting stem cells. Australia bans human cloning of any kind. China bans cloning humans for reproductive purposes, but has allowed cloning for research. Serbia bans cloning. The US has failed to pass a national anti-cloning bill yet.I would be curious to know just where reproductive cloning is technically legal to perform.
