Re: A Theory Isn't a Doubt

I understand your position. However, I do take exception to your explanation of mine. Words do have meanings. And we shouldn't just redefine them to misconstrue what other people say.For instance the definition of faith that most dictionaries give is a belief that does not rest on logoical proof or material evidence. How would you define faith?Because I disagree that there is no material evidence of evolution. Evolution exists today. John is Christian and yet his post about his fear of genetically modified plants is that the pollin from the GM plants can cross over and pollinate wild varieties and create superweeds. That is evolution. If all plants were made at one time and could not be alterated then it would not be possible to create a new species of plant. We can watch bacteria evolve in our own lifetime since their generations are so much faster than ours. If you have young children then you know that over-use of anti-biotics has lead to the creation of new strains of infections that don't respond to the old antibiotic. That is because bacteria aren't static. They are evolving into new strains all the time.Evolution is not defined as a past event. It is an explanation for how life functions now. We can see it happening. If evolution can be observed now, the question is when did it start?. Since God created everything, then why has God created evolution today in our lifetime but not in the past? The extinction of animal species has been observed in our own human lifetime. Why do we have an endangered species list? Is that not evidence that species can exist in one period of time and not in the next? To deny evolution is not just to deny the origin of life. It's to deny how our world works today. How our environment is endangered. How our children's health is put in peril.Evolution is not a past event. It is a continual event that we are living in. That is material evidence not faith.
