erin ( 10/12/2003, 23:51:28 )My fathers side of my family is catholic being mexican american most are catholic, except me , I am a christian but I beleave I am smart enough to actually read the bible for myself and not have a priest tell me I am to stupid to understand and therefor let them instruct you and dont even read for myself. In my family that are catholic they usually beleave a bunch of stuff about bruhas and other superstitios nonsense and never even look at the bible, they have the rosery beads and holy water and other such useless trappings and start having kids at twelve years old. Im not even kidding three of my cousans and my half sister ( the one i got mad at libfemmes comment) were aprox. fourteen when they had their first babies.The catholic church condones and I beleave encourages this. If all my grandmothers children were alive she would have twenty two children and do you know when she was told she would die if she had more the priest told her it would be a mortal sin to get fixed. She almost died having my youngest uncle and had to undergo a radical hysterectomy. I would never and I mean ever join the catholic church. I dont see how a woman with good sense would. I am sorry if I offend anyone and I know this is just my opinion but I beleave if they had the power they once had in the dark ages we would all be in a heap of trouble.
