Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: Many good reasons one would want to be cloned

There are very few of your posts that leave me with anything to add, but I think it might be possible to elaborate a little on this one, if only for the benefit of others out there. I originally chose my posting name as SexyClone, then shortened it for more serious discussions, but I do think there are some reasons, albeit paradoxical ones, why cloning could be considered sexy. One of the most important factors in finding a desirable partner is the partner's state of youth and health. Generally, the younger and healthier the sexually mature individual is, the better. People are often considered incompatible because they are of different ages. If cloning were used to keep people young and healthy, it would come to be associated with sex. It would greatly expand the overall sex appeal of the population, and increase the number of biologically viable partners any one person could have. It could also bring some otherwise infertile and previously excluded people into the potential breeding pool (of course, you've thought of that).Normally, a search for a breeding partner occurs across space. With cloning, the search could occur across time as well. It could bring a whole new meaning to song lyrics like "I'll love you forever," or "I would wait forever." People could delay parenthood for as long as they wanted in order to find the ideal partner. Therefore, I think cloning won't replace sex, but could greatly enhance it. Sex in a world where cloning was available would be a lot more fun than in a world where it wasn't. If cloning is made to work, I think people will be likely to reproduce through a combination of the two, reproducing their individual cells to stay young and healthy, being more choosy about partners with whom they have children sexually, and so on.A great many technological advances have been powered by people's desire for sex. Cloning has some applications there, too. Cloned people, contrary to the impression left by one Star Trek episode, would probably be very sexy indeed. Maybe you have your own reasons for not mentioning this, but as with other benefits of cloning, sometimes it's necessary to point out the obvious.
