Like Lobbying for Unilateral Disarmamentlibfemme ( 11/08/2003, 22:15:47 )Some countries apparently made mention of the fact that the United States was pushing for a ban that they themselves would not follow. Although GW Bush personally wants it he is unlikely to be able to enact a ban in his own country. If the US is not going to ban cloning then why should any other country put themselves at a competitive disadvantage in what looks to be an increasingly profitable field? All the costs of enforcing such a cloning ban would be born by the foreign countries policing themselves, while all the benefit would be reaped by American biotech companies who now had an open field.
