Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: any refutes for cloning cons??

SC ( 11/04/2003, 07:12:47 )

If you read the two main groups of Bionic Virus postings, and people's replies to them, that should give you an idea of the curves that your opponent might throw at you in a debate, and the ways that you might reply. The arguments in favor of cloning are the sorts of things that people who write constitutions hold to be self-evident: people should have an inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Cloning offers people a chance to live longer, have more choices in the way they live their lives, and have more freedom from disability and disease. Attacks on cloning tend to end up attacking these principles. It therefore might help to point out that even holding a debate on cloning is basically absurd. We wouldn't debate whether diseases should be cured, or whether people identical to clones (namely, ourselves) should be allowed to exist.
