bdeckba ( 09/02/2005, 13:57:24 )The reason many bible readers believe the "sons of God" were actually angels is because elsewhere in the bible it refers specifically to them for example Jude 6 states: ..."the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place". Also, 1 Peter3:19,20 speaks of "the spirits in prison, who had once been disobedient when the patience of God was waiting in Noah's days". Angels, like humans, were given freedom of choice, or free will, so they made a decision, much like Satan the Devil, who was also created as an angel but who wanted the glory and honor given the creator and thus rebelled. If these "sons of God" were merely men, why was their offspring referred to in the bible as "men of fame" moreso than any others in the bible at that time, like faithful Noah, or any other "wicked" on earth? Why mention their marriage to the daughters of men as anything special, since marriage had been going on for 1000+ years?
