libfemme ( 11/17/2003, 00:45:37 )On Halloween eve in 1938 the Mercury Theater radio program broadcast a program based on H.G. Wells "War of the Worlds". The radio drama was played as if it were a series of live news broadcasts.Despite four announcements within the program that the presentation was fictional many listeners in 1938 actually believed that the United States was being invaded by ships from Mars.It is now the turn of the milenium and people get into a panic over the word "cloning". Instead of studying biology and learning how the body actually works, people rely on movies like Star Wars and Jurassic Park, confusing fiction for reality.There were car accidents BEFORE cell phones. There were music and talk programs on radio stations, CD's and tape decks, and books on tape long before cell phones. There were even other passengers in the car carrying on conversations with the driver! There were children acting up in the backseat and women putting on makeup in the rearview mirror. There have been road maps and directions that drivers consulted in the middle of traffic. I even once saw a driver reading a book during stop and go traffic on the freeway!The problem isn't the technology it is the people who use it. Irresponbility leads to traffic problems whether one is using technology or day dreaming. Before technology people rode carriages that broke axles, got stuck in mud ruts, and ran over children playing in the streets.As for the big dipper watching, the big dipper is a collection of 7 gaseous stars about 65 billion light years from earth. It is seen only in the north sky and consequently can't "see" anything going on in Austrialia.However, stars are used as euphemisms for God. It is a tenet of old testiment Judeo-Christianity that when individuals do something that angers God, he punished the entire community. Hence God rained down fire and brimstone (flaming sulfur) on Sodem and Gomorrah, apparently because homosexuals lived in the cities.Hence 5000 years later Jerry Falwell of the Moral Majority stated that the reason "God" let the World Trade Center Towers in New York to be attacked by Arab terrorists was because homosexual rights laws have been passed in this country.I can only extrapolate from your statement that because people drive irresponsibly this is a sign that stars 65 million light years away in space are angry at homosexuals.A stretch? I think you should pay closer attention to history and to science and know were your ideas come from.
