40% of Irish support cloning for sick

A EUROPEAN survey on attitudes towards the scientific use of cloning has revealed that almost 40% of Irish people support the “therapeutic cloning” of cells to help the sick. Just two weeks before the European Union decides whether to provide €17.5 billion for stem cell research, the EOS Gallup survey shows 38% of Irish people favour the cloning technique in some form.The French survey was carried out in 30 European countries in January and found that 38% of the 500 Irish people polled agreed with therapeutic cloning in some form.
