Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: Shakespeare II would still be writing,

This is the 21st century. If you haven't heard, slavery is illegal anywhere in the world. (Ask the UN if you doubt me.) You cannot "confine" anyone for study purposes in the civilized world without going to prison. A cloned cell, human or otherwise, will only divide in a petri dish for 3 or 5 days, the same amount of time it would divide while moving down a female's fallopian tube. After that all embryos runs out of cytoplasm, raw materials, whatever you want to call it in the egg, and need a new source of nurishment, otherwise the embryo dies. In humans, a 5 day old embryo will attach itself to the mother's uterine wall and develops a placenta. The placenta connects to the mother's blood system and the mother's body supplies the embryo with food. Then the embryo can begin to grow and develop. Therefore, after 5 days in a petri dish, a human embryo whether cloned, artifically inseminated or whatever, still needs to be implanted into a uterus or it too will die.Right now, in some 300 fertility clincs across the United States and many more in other countries, human ova is fertilized by human sperm in petri dishes every day. It is called invitro fertilization. The resulting embryos must either be implanted in the mother's uterus within a few hours or frozen in liquid nitrogen to be dethawed later and implanted. If you don't implant, you don't get a fetus. If you don't get a fetus you don't get a baby.To have a cloned human baby you need a human woman willing to carry the embryo to term for 9 months. If a woman carries an embryo to term then legally it is hers. That's what the laws say now about invitro fertilization and all other forms Assisted Reproductive Technology. There is no reason to think that cloning would be any different. You can not enslave a human baby, regardless of how it was conceived or born. A woman cannot conceive a baby and sell it to a pediphile. She cannot sell it into slavery. She cannot sell or even let it be experimented upon for clinical drug trial. She cannot sell its organs for transplant. Etc., etc. There acts are illegal now, for any person, child or adult, of any race, religion, mental ability, or form of conception. It is illegal to discriminate against anyone based on the form of their conception. You can't even list a baby as "illegimate" on its birth certificate any longer. That is the closest to denying someone rights based on circumstances of conception.Nor is there any scientist or doctor advocating cloning a human cell for the purpose of "confining" the child for observation. None. Nada. Zilch. There are however, licensed physicans in the fertility field working in assisted reproduction who have expressed a willingness to clone a human cell from an otherwise infertile couple who wish to have a family and implant the embryo in the mother. It is the same infertile couples who go to fertility clinics that are advocating for reproductive cloning. It is simply one more method of having a baby. The only hope for the couple who cannot be helped by existing ART methods. It is illegal to confine identical twins, or to "study" them without their permission. Twins can and do refuse to join studies all the time. Cloning to make a baby is an expensive, time consuming operation that takes the effort of many people and established facilities. In constrast giving birth the "natural" way can be done in secret by any fertile couple regardless of age or mental ability. If you were truly concerned about babies being imprisoned and used for nafarious purposes, worry about the ease with which a natural baby can be born to any idiot for any purpose they choose. Parents willing to pay thousands of dollars to have a biological child love that child as much if not more than parents who pay nothing to have a child by "accident".
