Re: Is cloning ethical?libfemme ( 02/09/2004, 03:22:34 )The only circumstances in which cloning is moral are the same circumstances in which natural conception is moral, i.e. if the parents want a baby to love. Why shouldn't parents who lost a child be allowed to give birth to another one? Why should it matter if the next child is a singleton or an identical twin? Parents have natural identical twins and triplets now. Sometimes one twin dies, does that make the parents a monster for still loving the surviving twin? Elvis Presley was one of a set of identical twins. His brother died at birth. His mother took comfort from at least having Elvis. Was that wrong for her to love a son that had an identical twin? Then what does it matter if the twin is natural or planned? If you love a child then that is all the justification in the world for its existence. Children don't need to have a "purpose". They should be born for one reason. Their parents want them. If parents are willing to spend $100,000 to have a baby born, then that indicates the birth is not an accident to them. They must really want that child. Then let them have it and wish them well. As you would any other family, right? ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
