Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Prejudice is not an effective learning strategy

SC ( 01/29/2004, 06:41:27 )

You didn't understand what I was saying about Bambi. Maybe you could if you went about things in a different way. Being prejudiced restricts the range of ideas you can come up with, so that you are handicapped when you are faced with a task such as imagining what the future might be like. You have said that you will abandon your prejudice if you get the answers you need. How long will you remain unprejudiced, though? Until your next deadline? From what I've seen, you'll probably just go back to extorting people again.Sooner or later, however, your extortion strategy is going to stop producing results. I presume there are people that it doesn't work with already, or you'd just call your teacher gay until you got a good mark, and you wouldn't have to come here to look for answers.Presumably, you don't like having to ask other people for help, or you wouldn't insult them while you were doing it. Apparently, you also want my help most of all, because you've insulted me more times than anyone else. Unfortunately, I don't think that I would be helping you or others most effectively by rewarding your prejudice.Let's say that there are people out there whose lives depend on you abandoning your prejudice. People who are running out of time to have children, to keep their memories from being wiped out by Alzheimer's, to avoid death or disability through various forms of degenerative disease. While you play your little mind games on this board, the clock is ticking for all those people. Maybe people who might otherwise have been saved have already died because of your little extortion racket. Should I reward you, when that reward comes at the cost of other people's suffering? I don't think so. I could try appealing to your conscience, but from what you've shown so far, you place a higher priority on a couple of sentences in your research paper than the welfare of other people, so that probably won't work.So perhaps it would be better to give you a sample of what other people are going through. Each time you display prejudice on this board, I'll delay another two days before addressing the question of your research paper. The longer you fail to understand what I have tried to tell you, the higher the price you will pay. That may not be the future of cloning, but it's your future.
