Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Too broad

libfemme ( 03/11/2004, 13:39:09 )

You're going to have to narrow it down if you want an opinion. "Cloning" incompasses too much to be a topic. Do you mean reproductive cloning, theraputic cloning, genetic engineering or what? I don't know what you mean by a mass scale. An assembly line? Doubtful.Individualized gene therapy available to the masses? Very likely. But not for a few years. There will have to be years of clinical human trials before anything is on a "mass" scale. But in all likelihood, in your lifetime, the techniques of cloning and gene manipulation that has only been talked about recently will be relatively easy to obtain, if very expensive at first. In the long run however, genetic manipulation will be far more efficient, effective and consequently money saving than the toll that birth defects, mental illness, drunk driving, incarceration for drug or sex offenses, lost worktime due to long convalence following cancer or heart disease, diabetes, etc. has now on the economic and emotional health of society. It won't solve all problems, but it will cut them down considerably.
