Re: Science courseworkseanofaris ( 03/24/2004, 03:15:54 )Human Cloning could be a good thing and a bad thing. Chances are that if we make clones it won't enable us to take over the world. As a matter of fact it may even be a bad thing to bring more people into the world. There are already starving paople today and if we have mare coming i'm afraid we may pull a darwin and whipe out the whole human species on accident. This would happen by the same means that a bird population could die out. Darwin found that finches on the galapagose islands addapted to their food scources like longer beaks for getting at the bugs that burrowed under ground soil and in tree bark. But if you take these birds and put them in an enclosure with more limited rescources or added more to the population without adding territory it could be disastrous. They would eventually eat all of the bugs and starve to death causing the entire population to die out. Now you may ask "How does this relate to human cloning?". With cloning we would be adding children to the world that wouldn't have normally been born. Since we haven't found any planets that we can move to, yet, that will allow us to live there and have more space to live in, we will eventually run out of rescources that we need to live. Food would eventually deplete and we would very possibly become extinct as a species. In that sense the human race would be doomed due to cloning. On the other hand it could be a good thing for companionship or sterile mothere or fathers because it could fill a gap in the life of a family or give someone a friend that they can truly relate to... literally and metaphorically. It would be unethical to grow cloned as organ doners because it would be possibly killing an innocent human being. You have to imagine that you are growing up with the knowledge that once you are an adult you will be chopped up into little pieces and some surgeon would go through your dead body looking for organs that some other dude can use because he lived an unhealthy life and screwed up some of his organs. Reading this you may say that it's just like the organ doner program or something of that genre but it's not. The typical organ doner is someone who is already dead and with them it's not like they are going to be useing it any more anyway so it's ethically ok to do this as long as we're not killing anybody in the process just so we can fix some guy up. ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
