Re: Support, Against Human cloning

Wow...that's an amazingly materialistic interpretation of Jesus' spiritual teachings. To think that the thing that makes us unique as beings under God is our hair, toenails, fingers, facial features, noses. Is that what makes us unique? Here I was thinking it was my soul.Another thing...and this always gets me. Jesus taught in parables (as do a number of spiritual teachers...it is a long, beautiful tradition, imo). What makes you think that the bible is, word for word, "true" in the sense of materialistic logic/history? It is meant to teach deep, profound spiritual Truth, which is far and away more meaningful than whether so-and-so really said X on this particular day or not, or what he meant literally by it. Words and statements in the Bible are meaningless outside of that context. If every single word had to be true in the materialistic/historical sense, that would mean Jesus thinks we're all idiots, and need things spelled out like a neat little rulebook on how to live and who to hate and so on and so forth. I have more faith in God than that! (and human beings for that matter). My God is a God of free will! And compassion for others, not judgement... If you can't tell the difference between "literally true" and Truth, then you might want to meditate on this...!
