Re: My David Letterman-style list: which is your favorite?

Fingerprinting was introduced over a hundred years ago and at that time people asked how you would be able to distinguish identical twins. Easy, identical twins don't have the same fingerprints. (Read Mark Twain's Puddin Head Wilson)Fingerprints are not the result of genetics but of environmental factors in the womb: how much of a particular hormone is present at a particular time, fetal position in the womb.As for genetic typing, twin start out with identical genes but they don't have identical experiences. For instances they don't always catch the same infections. Your immune system remembers every infection you get and alters white blood cells throughout your life. The blood of identical twins can be told apart that way also.I don't know why you think that if something is possible EVERYBODY has to do it. Organ transplants are possible. Not everyone goes out and get a new organ for the heck of it, do they? Yet for people with kidney failure or heart disease, babies with diseased livers, organ transplants are life savers.Maybe we should get rid of insulin. While it is necessary for the health of a diabetic, it is fatal if EVERYONE took it. And since insulin is available I guess EVERYONE is running out and using it now? I think you need to grow up sweetheart. And crack a textbook.
