Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: Sickening

SC ( 03/31/2004, 04:22:49 )

People's bodies constantly make new cells to replace those that are lost, but over time the process breaks down. When people talk about living forever through cloning, they are probably discussing the possibility of making the body's self-repair system work better so that new cells are produced quickly enough to replace all the old ones. This could keep people young and make them live much longer, although it wouldn't make them invincible; they could still die in accidents and so on. It sounds like you're interpreting people's comments about what is called "therapeutic" cloning as comments about "reproductive" cloning.
