Cloning Resets Telomereslibfemme ( 05/18/2004, 22:27:49 )One of the concerns voiced about Dolly was whether or not her telomeres might be too short and if this could lead to premature aging. (Dolly was destroyed by her owners because she developed arthritis)Apparently the answer is no. A German study of telomeres in cloned mice and cattle found that telomerase restores the length of telomeres in cloned animals regardless of the age of the donor cell.
