Illegal Beings: Human Clones

New Cloning pictures

libfemme ( 05/20/2004, 04:23:12 )

I wondered why the Louisiana legislature suddenly brought to the floor a state bill to ban human cloning in their state. Then today, the Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species in New Orleans announced it has successfully cloned two female wild cats. Louisiana State University had successfully cloned the first carnivore, a male wild cat. The African wild cat is on the endangered list, and domestic cats were used as surrogate mothers. The center has created a patented technology, which has allowed them to produce more live births per litter. Audubon is one of the few zoos that have a cloning program. Although they vehemently deny they have any interest in human cloning, that doesn’t matter to opponents. Anti-cloners see any improvement in any animal cloning as a potential threat.
