Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Metaphor or Literalist?

libfemme ( 05/22/2004, 03:19:27 )

Genesis 3-24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. But since the Bible does not specifically tell us that the garden left Earth, how can we conclude it did? If one is a Biblical literalist and claims creation is written down literally and is not a metaphor, then shouldn't we take all of the story of creation as literal?Or if we can interrpret the one, why not the other and say that Adam is a metaphor for when hominoids first acquired self-awareness and the higher intelligence that can conceive of Godness? That may not be your position. I am just wondering why creationists can maintain a denial of evolution based on Biblical literalness, and then "read" interpretations into the cherubims. Just asking.
