Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Definately For

libfemme ( 05/25/2004, 05:52:44 )

Some couples are infertile and want to have a biological child just like other people do. Sometimes these couples can be helped by invitro fertilization but not all of them.In order to fertilize an egg, you have to have an egg to start with. But if a woman has lost her ovaries due to cancer or she has gone into premature menopause, then she has no eggs to fertilize. Cloning, however, allows a woman to produce an embryo that is genetically related to her, but using another type of cell than an egg. For a couple in which either the man or the woman, or both, are not capable of producing viable sex cells (eggs or sperm) cloning provides the only way to have a child that is genetically related to one of them and no one else. If is a fundamental right of all people to reproduce if they so choose. Just because a person has a medical condition that prevents natural conception, does not mean they lose those rights. Like any other patient, they have the right to seek medical care to faciliate a pregnancy.
