Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Stem Cell Network

libfemme ( 06/01/2004, 03:44:33 )

Obviously I am not pleased with the stem cell network's pledge for US candidates for office, because it distinguishes stem cell cloning form reproductive cloning. On the other hand the pledge does not actually call for a ban on reproductive cloning either.I am much more optimist about the future of reproductive cloning however, because of the growing support for therapuetic cloning. It seems obvious that stem cell research will take place before reproductive cloning in the short run. But that cloning will be scientifically possible and legal in the long run, I have no doubt.Reproductive cloning is just one type of therapuetic cloning. There are dozens of different illnesses besides infertility, consequently it is easier to get a large advocacy group based on the other sum total of the other diseases stem cells can cure. Reproductive Cloning will follow. More and more people recognize infertility as a disease also.
