libfemme ( 07/29/2004, 14:30:25 )Why would any one use the cells come from a 4 month old fetus? They might as well use adult cells then! The fetal cells have already started to differentiate into specific tissue cells, blood, bone, neurons etc. Why would a scientist do something the hard way? What would be the point?Why not take the cells from the blastula (a tiny sphere of cells), about 4 days after fertilization? Not only is this before the embryo attaches to the uterus so it is much easier to get at, but the cells are totinpotent, they can develop into anytype of tissue.Your query goes against human self interest.
