If there is a god and there is scientific research any conclusion about reality must demonstrate there is no conflict between the two in order to be true. You're probably right that we may have once been asexual beings, We may also become asexual beings again at some point in the future. Remember that extraterrestrial beings would also have religions and religiuos figures like Jesus Christ. I like being considered sane too but am a little afraid programmed thinking hurts cultural evolution.
