Problems with these sitesSC ( 11/30/2004, 19:48:43 )There's an old Russian joke: An American and a Russian were arguing about whose country was better. The American said, "I could stand on the steps of the White House and criticize president Kennedy." The Russian replied, "I could stand on the steps of the Kremlin and also criticize Kennedy."I visit Do No Harm regularly, and post news of any interesting discoveries that I find there on this site (I recently posted a link to the article about the woman who recovered from half-paralysis, for instance). If someone does something good with adult stem cells, I'm glad for it.The reverse isn't true. Do No Harm always puts the negative "spin" on anything related to embryonic stem cells. The sites you reference are not interested in giving people their say, or letting them post their own links as you've done here. They don't promote other people's right to exist and speak freely. One glaring omission from these sites, for instance, is any coverage of the discoveries made by Tristem. This company could be developing technology that could produce cells as useful as those made by somatic cell nuclear transfer, without removing cells from an embryo. Shouldn't these people who scan the web for every last bit of news regarding non-embryonic cells be happy about what Tristem has done? Why haven't they reported it?The sites promote a false view of what constitutes "Christian" attitudes. Polls vary in their results, depending on who is doing the polling and how the question is asked, but all Christians certainly aren't against therapeutic cloning. A majority of California's population were in favor of embryonic stem cell research when the vote was taken on Proposition 71, including (according to earlier polls) two thirds of Catholics and one third of the most conservative Protestants. The links you've posted are also out of date. They don't reflect the trend toward increased public approval of cloning and stem cell research which the regulars here have been watching on an ongoing basis.Have you ever considered that someone might have come to this website before you, said the same things that are in your links, asked the same questions as you? Well, they have, and we've answered the questions, often several times over. Those of us who've argued long and hard, against a steady stream abuse from the most ignorant and prejudiced people imaginable, in a sincere effort to give people the right to be healthy and make their own choices, have nothing to prove to you. You have something to prove to us. You need to prove that you're capable of listening. You need to prove that you're not just darB under yet another pseudonym. ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
