Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: My proof that cloning,Human and Animal, is wrong

Will Big Money Derail the Cloning Ban? Legislation pending in the U.S. House of Representatives to ban all forms of human cloning faces strong opposition by biotechnological firms, which want the freedom to clone and destroy human embryos in order to collect embryonic stem cells. The Human Cloning Prohibition Act (H.R. 2505), sponsored by Reps. Dave Weldon, R-Fla., and Bart Stupak, D-Mich., bans the use of cloning to create any human being, including cloned human embryos. The Biotechnological Industry Organization (BIO) opposes the Weldon/Stupak bill because it bans both "reproductive" and "therapeutic" cloning. Reproductive cloning creates a human embryo with the intention of implanting the embryo in a woman's womb to give birth. So-called "therapeutic" or research cloning, meanwhile, creates an embryo in order to harvest his or her stem cells for research -- an act that always destroys the embryo. The BIO is on record in support of a ban on "reproductive" cloning but wants Congress to allow companies to clone and kill embryos for research. This is why the BIO and it's more than 900 biotechnological companies and academic research laboratories want to see the Weldon/Stupak ban defeated. The powerful and economically profitable biotech firms associated with the BIO wield tremendous political clout on Capitol Hill. Congress needs to hear from pro-life Americans who oppose the creation of human embryos for the purpose of medical experimentation and ultimate destruction. TAKE ACTION Contact your member of the House of Representatives and urge him or her to support for H.R. 2505, the Human Cloning Prohibition Act, sponsored by Reps. Weldon and Stupak. You can call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, or for more help in contacting your congressman, see our Legislative Action Center. Furthermore, the House Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on the Weldon/Stupak bill the week of July 23. At this time, several key committee members have not committed to vote for the bill in committee. The following members need to hear from voters in support of the Weldon/Stupak legislation: Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) Phone: 202-225-2635 E-Mail: jeff.flake@mail.house.gov Rep. George Gekas (R-Pa.) Phone: 202-225-4315 E-mail: askgeorge@mail.house.gov Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah) Phone: 202-225-7751 E-mail: cannon.ut03@mail.house.gov (Note: The original cloning ban introduced by Reps. Weldon and Stupak was H.R. 1644. That bill was replaced by H.R. 2505 with changes that make it possible to gain more support without compromising the integrity of the ban.) You can receive family news stories by email.
