Certaintylibfemme ( 12/27/2004, 20:50:17 )It's also a way of knowing what you're getting in advance. Say a family has a dog that has a wonderful disposition with kids. The dog dies and they want another family pet. They take a risk getting a new puppy. Who's to say what kind of disposition this dog will eventually have? And it's not easy to get rid of a dog once you've got it.But if genetics determines temperment, then buying a clone of the first dog is likely to get you another even tempered dog. Just what you wanted. It might be worth it for some families. Then there's the pain that some children feel when a beloved pet dies. Knowing that they've kept a part of the beloved pet alive in its offspring may be soothing to the children. They can feel they can give their love to their new pup without being disloyal to the memory of their old. What about seeing eye dogs or rescue dogs? If there is a really excellent one why not clone it? Then everyone could take advantage of this dog's intelligence.Or guard dogs, sheep dogs, hunting dogs. And of course, why shouldn't the rich subsidize research for the rest of us? Excellent idea. ![]() This Message is being posted for educational purposes, as well as for comment and criticism, by the visitors to the HumanCloning.org Foundation website (www.HumanCloning.org ).
