Illegal Beings: Human Clones

The Rapture

libfemme ( 12/27/2004, 19:54:04 )

Then you are stating there are two realities, which begs the question what does the word reality mean? As I use the term reality means an objective physical state independent of anyone observing it. A tree is real whether or not I see it. It's existence is independent of me.Other people are also independent of me. Just because I don't think about them doesn't mean they disappear. If something exists for one person but doesn't for another then you are not talking about reality. You're talking about subjectivity. You can say that some people believe God is real while other people believe he is not. Two subjectivities can exist at once. But there's no meaningful way to say God is real and not real simultaneously. To be real is to be independent of anyone's thought. If that is not your definition of real, then tell me what word you use for "somethings that has physical form independent of any observer" and I'll use that term. The question is do you have a term for reality? Is there anything that exists outside of your own mind? If so, what? And how do you determine this?If you say that the idea of God exists in the thought of some people and this image is so intense that they mistake it for reality, you've still then said that God is not real.Which brings up an interesting correlary. If God exists only for those who believe, and it's the thought of all the believers that keeps God real, what happens when the rapture takes all the faithful? Does that mean God no longer exists and the rest of us can get on with life unemcumbered?
