Illegal Beings: Human Clones

Re: What's good about cloning?

really ( 12/15/2004, 11:00:33 )

I totally agree with what u are saying I think that cloning is good especially since there are 10,565 people in the united states that die each year from smoking. We can cut that maybe down to 1,000 because right now we are close to cloning organs and if we can do that then we can cut down 10,565 down to 1,000. Another thing is that 7,899 people die each year from drinking alcohol. We could cut that number in half by giving people liver transplants. Just think, we would be able to save many more lives if we had cloning. Talking about how we can save all these people who are dieing from smoking and drinking. They don't need to be saved! When they start drinking/smoking, they know the risks involved and need to accept the consequences when they come around. Our bodies weren't designed for things like smoking and drinking, and cloning new organs to replace the original ones that WE destroyed is not right. It will only encourage bad habits like that. Now if the person needs a new lung because of a birth defect or something, i can understand that. I think the only place we should be getting the lungs or whatever else is from donors. And these organs should go to people who legitimately need them, not some stupid person who smoked their whole life and is dieing from lung cancer. You shouldn’t be giving out organs to people just because they are retarded enough to smoke or drink to the extent that it hurts them. Organs (cloned ones) should only be given to those that cant help but have a damaged organ or two. I have to say cloning just an organ would be all right. However, cloning an entire human being could be wrong. Things to remember about this include, that this human has to grow up, this human will have feelings, emotions and everything you do. Why would we clone humans if all we wanted to do this for is organs? If that person grew up, they would be their own individuals with rights just as we have. If they knew all they were around for is their organs, they could never aspire to do what they want to in this world because all they will think about is that one day they'll be gone, they're being used...that they aren’t "human" so why are we doing this? Is this not a valid explanation? I believe that people who deliberately make themselves ill by smoking or drug taking etc should be refused any kind of medical treatment. The world is a better place without them.
