The God that brought the Hebrews out of slavery wanted us to sacrifice animals to him for their blood. This was neccesarry to repent for sins, since God is Holy and Perfect He cannot even look at sin! He cannot even think of sin! this is why He sent Jesus Christ, His own Son, to the cross. He loved us so much and wanted to be with us so much that He gave His only son to the cross with EVERY sin, present,past, and future, into Hell. He(Jesus)descended into Hell, and rised up from death on the 3'rd day, ressurected by God! Now, anyone who accepts Jesus into their heart,and loves God can come to Him without havinbg the sin problem!Sure..we still sin, lie,steal,kill,adultery, and many more sins. But God only sees Jesus' glory in this. The Christianity you speak of is the Christianity that is more for 'Religious order'. In other words, the tyranny of the Pope is wrong. The Pope says whatever he says comes from God. But what if you got one Pope stating stealing is ok, while 10 years later a new pope says its wrong? God never changes His mind....so the Pope is wrong. Puritans...Seperatists... I don't know why you thought of this. These are forms of Christianity in the past. Tyranny is all they were about! No playing..No cards,no music, no anything but boring boring work all your life. This is tyranny yes. There still are Strict Christian denominations, but if you look around, there are more free ones that allow more. I go to a non-denominational church. Many of the members smoke, as do many people in Seattle. This is wrong both because your body is God's Temple, and is bad for health. But it doesn't matter to them for we all sin. Just pray for them is what they do. I myself like to wear all black clothing with leather and all. I sometimes look kinda gothic, but it doesn't matter! I don't steal or do anything like bad thats major, so they trust me of course. We listen to secular music, Praise and Worship, and all musics! Christian Metal,Christian Rap, Christian Rock,and Christian pop! It isn't just in the boring part.Slavery......... If Christians believe in slavery, why is it that we live mostly in America? The land of 'NO SLAVES'. Lord is a word from the Medieval time, but it also is another word for God. Christ means 'anointed' in Hebrew, yet it is also another of God's names! Therefore there can be more definitions to Lord than just a tyrant word, correct?Anmyways, just thought this might help you with understanding that it isn't always like that in all Christianity.
