Re: My objection to Christainity
nefretiri ( 03/14/2005, 18:20:04 )first of all i have to say is quite complaining, there will always be someone over you. whether it be your boss or a divine being. i have to agree that i don't like the idea of that and people who argue against church and state are basically ridiculous and mind you it's not about religion and solace it's spirituality and a way of living and having a relationship with God. and anyone who says different are disillusioned. like the crazed tyrants who raged wars and stole and plundered and all kinds of stupidities in God's holy name. just like things were different 100 yrs ago in this wonderful country of freedom, different rules and things of that nature had to be put down because if you ever read the old testament the hebrews had to be ruled with an iron fist, they were rebellious, just as a parent does a child who misbehaves. and what parent wouldn't want to beat the crap out of someone who hurt their child. realize it was the puritans who started the salem witch trials. in the name of God once more just like the tyrants who ruled "in God's name." so just because some "christians" do all these stupidities and cause all this opression doesn't mean that He is the same way.and in the old testament, for a christian, there are valuble lessons and blessings not just tyranies. the term "lord" says that there is a dominion over your life and whether you like it or not we don't have complete dominion over our own lives it's just saying that He can take care of everything and not to worry. of course only those who are sure and have faith, just like we depend upon gravity to keep us on the earth and not constantly worring about floating off into space. and God did not say that just because He has complete control doesn't mean everyone can and they must be in office or rule for some reason and just do what they say because they do have power over you. there is a difference between obediance and people taking control over you. and last time i checked God didn't come down making us do stuff we didn't want to, why do you think he gave us free will. if that were the case he would have made us all robots to serve him. and just because there were rulers who that was their basic intent doesn't mean that he wanted it that way. granted he could have stopped it and stop alot of things that happen now doesn't mean it was done by him, he rarely makes people do things and i really don't want to use a cliche but there really does have to be a reason for everything. I don't want to sway you i just had to set you clear on a few things.
